Compensating bending forms

When you guys build your bending forms how, and how much do you compensate them so that the the sides fit into your mold a bit better. I'm getting ready to build a few new ones and felt I could do it better than I did last time.

Ronn, i was advised by Russell Rose here to take 2-3 mm off your mold so you'd compensate for the thickness of the wood and blanket. I did so and had a perfect match in my body mold after the bending session, hope this helps.Serge Poirier39056.6905092593

I've only built one mold myself, for an OM. I deepened the waist about 3/8", and shortened each end about the same. I think this was a bit too much, at least for the EIR I was bending. Next time I'll try about 1/4" at each of the three spots.

I think he wants to know how much over bend at the end of the upper and lower bout. If so I don't but know many add as much as 1/8" over bend at the upper and lower bouts

This isn't an exact science as each wood has its own variable. I will over compensate the radius a bit . Try keeping the outer bouts to the line then tighten the radius about 1/4 from your mold , the waist you can just do a little tigher but a 1/4 in radius IE a 3 3/4 radius to 3 1/2
